The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, invites applications for a
W2-Professorship for “Sign Languages”
starting as soon as possible.
The professorship is assigned to the profile specialisation “Communication and Language” of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, which is dedicated to the causes and consequences of individual and social communication barriers as well as instruments and strategies for overcoming them.
The professorship will represent the area of “Sign Languages” in the field of Deaf Studies and Sign Language Interpreting in research and teaching.
We are looking for an individual with a strong record of research in at least two of the following areas:
Teaching responsibilities will be derived not only from the above research areas, but also from the curricular requirements of the department`s degree programmes.
Several years of relevant teaching experience are expected.
Very good knowledge of at least one sign language is required.
If knowledge is insufficient, a willingness to learn German and German Sign Language as quickly as possible is required.
The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz`.
