The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to a Tenured Professorship in “Computer Engineering” (W3 salary) within the Faculty of Natural Sciences III, Institute of Computer Science.

The position will commence at the earliest possible date.

We are looking for a person with outstanding scientific credentials to represent the field of computer engineering in teaching and research.

The research focus of the professorship should be in one or more future-relevant sub-areas of computer engineering, for example in one of the following areas: Computer architecture, edge and cloud computing, embedded systems, real-time systems, computer networks, distributed systems, secure hardware.

A connection to cybersecurity is desirable, as the Institute of Computer Science would like to establish a focus in this area.

The professorship should make an active contribution to the profile areas ‘(Digital) Transformation’ and ‘Sustainability’ at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

Applicants should have experience in the acquisition and management of externally funded projects and be recognised by relevant publications in international journals or at international conferences.

The focus of the teaching offered by the professorship should be in the field of computer engineering (in its full breadth) for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in computer science and computer science teaching.

Teaching should be in German and English.

Participation in university self-administration is also expected.

Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.

Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.

Particular emphasis is placed on a Habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition.

Candidates are expected to have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
