Who we are ...

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES, the energy transition becomes a reality every day.

Our focus topics are: offshore wind energy, hydrogen, test infrastructure and digitization.

More than 400 employees – including around 100 students – from over 50 countries work at nine locations in scientific and non-scientific teams on the development of innovative methods to accelerate the expansion of the wind energy and hydrogen economy, minimize risks, and increase cost efficiency.

What you will do

Our fields of research are very diverse ... 

You can contribute to the further development of test benches for large wind turbine components and independently perform tests on them or measuring electrical properties.

You can also get involved in material testing or the automation of processes.

Sitting in a lab is not your thing, and you are more interested in testing your methods in the real world?

No problem! With us, you can run measurement campaigns on wind turbines in the field, prepare and follow up on wind measurement campaigns, or investigate the subsoil offshore.

Perhaps simulation is more your thing, and you would prefer to run simulations of wind farm sites?

We have a place for you as well.

Hydrogen is more your thing?

Awesome! Here, you can conduct electrochemical investigations of electrolysis and fuel cell components to test their efficiency in operation, for example.

We work in close cooperation with industry and other research institutes in the scope of national and international research projects, which means thrilling projects in the administration and technical areas are always waiting for you around the corner.

What is your specialist background?

Our positions are limited, depending on the working area, the duration can vary between 2 and 3 years.

The weekly working time for a full-time position is 39 hours.

However, our positions are also available on a part-time basis.

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).

Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
