Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Germany, contributing to the development of Autodesk VRED™—our cutting-edge 3D visualization software used by automotive designers and engineers worldwide.
VRED™ enables the creation of high-end product presentations, virtual prototypes, and design reviews, offering realistic material rendering, physical camera settings, advanced surface analysis, and more.
It empowers professionals to visualize concepts, evaluate designs, and shift from physical to virtual workflows in real time.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a background in computer graphics, XR (AR/VR/MR), or high-performance computing, who is motivated to contribute to both the design and implementation of new features, as well as the ongoing maintenance of existing C++ code.
The position is based in Darmstadt - Hybrid
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with product management, experience design, and engineering teams to deliver features that meet business needs and exceed user expectations.
Design, prototype, implement, test, and troubleshoot XR workflows based on product and market requirements.
Interpret, communicate, and clarify technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables for tasks and projects of varying complexity.
Perform continuous testing, debugging, and profiling of software on supported XR devices.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.
5–8 years of professional software development experience.
Hands-on experience with Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), or Mixed Reality (MR).
Proficient in modern C++ (C++17 or higher) with strong object-oriented programming skills.
Solid foundation in computer graphics programming.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to learn quickly.
Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing for cross-platform environments (Windows and Linux).
Familiarity with Vulkan, GLSL, CUDA, OpenGL, or ray tracing technologies.
Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, including algorithms and core concepts.
Experience with tools like Autodesk Alias, Autodesk VRED, or other CAD/3D visualization software.
Background or exposure to the automotive design and visualization industry is a strong plus.
