Power Electronics Engineer – Module Design Engineering


Location: Munich, Germany


The automotive electrification and industrial markets are experiencing rapid and transformational growth.

In this evolving landscape, high-power modules are no longer standard off-the-shelf components—they are critical building blocks of the complete power electronics system.
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Power Electronics Engineer to join onsemi’s Advanced Power Division and support our mission to become the global leader in Intelligent Power Solutions.
Our expanding portfolio includes cutting-edge IGBT and Silicon Carbide (SiC) high-power modules, and we’re continuously enhancing our roadmap to meet the evolving needs of our customers.


Job Description
• Take ownership of the electrical testing, characterization, and data analysis of power modules.

Actively contribute to the product development process in collaboration with R&D (technology) and production teams.
• Interface with application engineers and customers to understand application requirements and translate them into tailored electrical test plans.

Perform data acquisition, post-processing, and analysis to provide actionable feedback for optimization.
• Operate and maintain high-voltage lab test benches, including dynamic switching testers, power analyzers, and other specialized equipment.
• Develop and improve automated test setups, (using Python scripting).
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and customers to support system-level analysis, evaluating module behavior in real-life operating environments.


Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in power electronics; prior experience in automotive electrification is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with electrical simulation and design tools such as PSpice, SIMetrix, Altium, and scripting in Python is a plus.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, based on project needs.
