The GWDG is seeking a Platform Developer (Frontend/Backend) (m/f/d) to join an interdisciplinary team of HPC experts in the working group “Computing” (AG C) with a regular working week of 39 hours (%).

Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement for the German public service (federal government); depending on qualifications, the position will be grade E 13.

The position is suitable for part-time work and initially limited to four years.

The GWDG strives for long-term cooperation.

The Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG) is the university computing center for the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and a computing and IT competence center for the Max Planck Society.

The provision of high-performance HPC systems has been one of its tasks for over 40 years.

In , the University of Göttingen / GWDG was accepted as one of eight computing centers in the National High-Performance Computing (NHR) network.

The GWDG operates the HLRN-IV system “Emmy”, which is one of the most powerful computers in the world.

As a national supercomputing center, the GWDG provides technical support to researchers and students from various scientific domains, including earth system science, life science, and engineering.

We also participate in both national and international research projects.

At the same time, we aim to improve our close collaboration with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and specialized computing centers, including the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) and the Institute for Advanced Simulation Jülich (IAS-JSC).

To add a new chapter to our commitment to providing innovative technical services, we are looking for a highly motivated candidate to be part of the QUICS (Quantum Innovation and Computing for SME) project.

QUICS aims to provide low-threshold, secure, and reliable access to quantum resources for SMEs via an online portal.

In addition to providing access, the goal is also to support companies in identifying and implementing meaningful use cases for quantum computing.

Therefore, the successful candidate should have prior experience with web platform development and should be an enthusiast of innovative computing technologies, e.g., quantum computing.

The GWDG together with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS) of the University of Göttingen provides a stimulating research environment in Scientific Computing, with an opportunity to conduct research in the intersection of applied computer science, High-Performance Computing, Quantum Computing, and AI.

Responsibilities We have a wide range of potential responsibilities that we would like to discuss with you.

Your responsibilities in our team could include, for example: * Develop responsive, user-friendly web interfaces for quantum computing platforms * Integrate quantum computing APIs with web applications * Optimize performance and security for web applications handling sensitive data * Implementation of web-applications for our services, including databases and APIs * Stay current with advancements in quantum computing research and translate findings into actionable solutions * Classification and benchmarking of QC hardware based on technological features and performance criteria * Contribute in designing courses and hands-on for different training programs * Take ownership and be the point of contact regarding web applications * Establishment and maintenance of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with hardware providers Requirements * Completed university degree (Master/Diploma) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Computational Science, or a related field * Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks, backend technologies and webservers * Solid knowledge of distributed systems, cloud technologies, and API integration * RESTful API design, cloud deployment, and containerization * Strong programming skills in Python, including Jupyter environments * Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills * Fluent in written and spoken English Desirable * Familiarity with quantum SDKs (like Qiskit, or PennyLane) and cloud quantum platforms * Experience in hardware benchmarking * Knowledge of best DevOps practices * Familiarity with HPC systems * Working knowledge of German Our offer * Flexible working hours and opportunity for mobile working * A modern, diverse, and exceptional work environment with close proximity to academia and research at the intersection of several innovative technology sectors * An interesting, versatile job in a large, internationally operating IT competence center * Collaboration in a competent and committed team * Qualification and further development of your skills * Social benefits of the public sector Your application Have we sparked your interest?
