Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

The Optical Technology Laboratory in Munich researches and develops signal processing, components and systems for fixed access, data center networks, metro and long-haul optical networks.

The department engages in local research and collaborates with academic and industrial partners from the European ecosystem.

We’re looking for a motivated and creative individual who is passionate about technology and excited to push the boundaries of research in optical communication.

You should have a strong technical background in mathematical optimization and machine learning, but more importantly, you should have a curiosity for new technologies and a desire to make a difference.

Your mission


  • Conduct innovative research in communication networks with emerging technologies.

  • Develop and test algorithms and control strategies to improve the performance and operation of dynamic and scalable networks.

  • Support standardization efforts in communication networks.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on exciting, large-scale projects.

  • Publish and present latest research achievements in academic conferences and journals.

  • Contribute to intellectual property generation.

Your areas of expertise 


  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, informatics, telecommunications, or a related field

  • In-depth experience with mathematical optimization and machine learning

  • Solid understanding of modeling and optimizing communication network

  • Proficiency in Python and C++

  • Fluent in written and spoken English language
