The BMW Group is offering an exciting PhD position in the field of foundation models for 3D CAD.

The topic is of high research and industry interest and offers several chances of personal and technical development.


What awaits you?

  • Research in the field of generative AI for CAD.

  • Development of multimodal foundation models to facilitate 3D geometry processes in car development.

  • Contribution to relevant innovative activities, e.g. agentic systems, large industry models, etc..

  • Conceptualization and development of novel solutions in collaboration with academia based on industrial usecases.

  • Publishing your results and contributing to our research community.
  • What should you bring along?

  • Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent.

  • Experience in using and developing AI models in deep learning, generative models and large multimodal models.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of CAD / 3D geometry.

  • Experience with programming and in particular with ML/DL frameworks.

  • Knowledge of technical computing and numerical simulation is a plus.

  • Interest in the topic and applied research.

  • Business fluent English skills are a must, German skills are an plus.
