Mechanical Engineer Sensor Job Opening In Eschwege – Now Hiring Leggett & Platt

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Mechanical Engineer Sensors within our Engineering team to help support our Hydraulics business at our Pacoma branch in Eschwege, Germany.

Pacoma is one of the world's leading suppliers of hydraulic cylinders.

Our cylinders are extensively used in the construction machinery industry, the automobile industry, and in engineering applications as well as in logistics and material handling.

Furthermore our cylinders can also be used in agricultural and maritime applications etc.

Pacoma stands out with its individual designs, its consistently superior global quality and its high-capacity production facilities.

Our factory in Eschwege, Germany, can singularly handle a quarter million units per year working at normal capacity.

With the opening of a dynamic modern facility in China in 2011, Pacoma is even better positioned to serve its customers with high output and convenient logistics.

What you will do as a Mechanical Engineer Sensors?


  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for hydraulic systems with integrated sensor technologies (e.g. pressure, position, flow sensors).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing to ensure seamless sensor integration.

  • Perform FEA, tolerance analysis, and design validation for components in high-pressure hydraulic environments.

  • Support prototype development, product testing, and validation under simulated and real-world operating conditions.

  • Create and manage technical documentation, including 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and specifications.

  • Analyze field data and customer feedback to implement product improvements or troubleshooting measures.

  • Ensure products comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

  • Contribute to cost reduction and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) initiatives.
  • What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in hydraulic systems design, ideally with sensor technology exposure.

  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA).

  • Knowledge of hydraulic components (cylinders, valves, pumps, hoses) and their mechanical behavior.

  • Experience with sensor packaging, sealing, and integration in harsh environments.

  • Understanding of materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes relevant to fluid power applications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ISO 4413, CE, or ATEX standards for hydraulic systems and sensor certification.

  • Experience in DFMEA, design validation plans, or test protocols for sensor-embedded products.

  • Background in mechatronic system design.
