Your contribution:

The Engineer Data Analytics is responsible for driving data-centric engineering initiatives by leading the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytics solutions.

This role supports product development, testing, diagnostics, and vehicle applications through the strategic use of data.

The ideal candidate combines vehicle engineering domain expertise with strong data analysis and visualization skills to extract insights, identify trends, and improve decision-making across the organization.

  • Responsibility: Planning, oversight, and quality assurance for mid-sized projects; coordinating small project teams.

  • Expertise: Solid expert knowledge; accountable for solving complex technical issues.

  • Communication: Managing interfaces with other departments; presenting project status & results.

  • Special Remarks: Expanded technical leadership tasks, increased budget and schedule responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead data analytics projects supporting automotive battery development, validation, and field performance analysis.

  • Collect, clean, and process large datasets from vehicle systems (CAN, LIN, UDS, diagnostics), testing labs, and production systems.

  • Develop and implement machine learning models, statistical analysis tools, and predictive algorithms to support engineering decisions.

  • Collaborate with product, validation, systems, and manufacturing teams to define requirements and deliver actionable insights.

  • Utilize tools such as Python, SQL, MATLAB, R, Tableau or Power BI to analyze and visualize complex datasets.

  • Lead deployment of automated reporting tools, dashboards, and alerting systems for engineering teams.

  • Maintain best practices for data governance, security, version control, and documentation.

  • Work closely with IT and digital transformation teams to integrate data pipelines and cloud infrastructure solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).

  • Mentor junior engineers and analysts in analytics methodology, tool usage, and engineering data interpretation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Tasks require knowledge/skills acquired through either:

  • A Bachelor’s degree program (up to 4-year standard period of study) at a university or university of applied sciences (including Fachhochschul-Diplom)

  • or a three-year vocational qualification plus additional professional development as a state-certified technician or state-certified business administrator and substantial relevant professional experience.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Python, SQL, Power BI).

  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and data formats, including CAN, LIN, UDS, DTCs, and test data from vehicle validation.

  • Experience with battery data analytics

  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and statistical modeling techniques.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate engineering problems into data questions and solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake) and big data tools (Databricks, Kafka).

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools, version control (Git), and agile workflows.

  • Fluent English and at least upper/intermediate German language skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the working time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in vehicle testing, fleet analytics, or predictive maintenance.
