The Director Audio Algorithms of the Audio Feature Technologies & Innovation organization is responsible for leading & developing a team of Audio Algorithm engineers who innovate with a result driven mindset class leading audio technologies that extend and strengthen the Automotive Car Audio technology portfolio.
In addition to a very good leadership, 15+ years’ deep experience in audio technology & innovation development he/she must be a passionate & culturally open individual in order to connect with teams & effectively build sustainable relationships.
Your Team
The direct reports include up to 15 Engineers in global locations that are experts in the audio algorithm & AI/ML development domain with a strong background in audio signal-processing.
What You Will Do
· Technology development & integration – Foster class leading algorithm technology development by considering both audio performance and footprint for later effective implementation on any amplifier, headunit or other processing platform.
Provide a clear result driven direction to the team and traceability for development progress & achievement of milestones supported by project leads.
The success of this role will also be assessed on the timeliness of delivery, the engineering efficiency and quality.

Analyze competitive products and opportunities for differentiation.
He/she will also actively work on building cooperations with leading universities teaching in the Audio Algorithm, AI/ML and Acoustic domain.
He/she will create with the team new IP that helps to protect our technologies & differentiate from competitors while also considering any legal implications

· Documentation
This person delegates but finally owns & oversees the creation of strong & effective technical documentation that includes an efficient and easy understandable description of the algorithm design, implementation schemes & requirements.
· Develop Lasting and Winning Relationships – Build winning relationships with the relevant global Automotive teams and key stakeholders to ensure the technology development meets the expectations and gets acceptance from users.
· Business Acumen – Keep the ROI and technology value in mind when making decision for development approaches.

What You Need to Be Successful
· Academic background - PhD preferred; Master's Degree in computer science or at least 15 years+ of related progressive technology experience and accountability in a technology driven environment.
· Innovation - Well experienced in driving and developing class leading technologies – technical capability to guide strategically and lead resources.
Extensive experience in research and development of digital audio) signal processing algorithms.
Expert knowledge in audio signal processing, in acoustics, psychoacoustics, acoustic benchmarking, sound quality, and related fields.
Experience in professional SW engineering and Knowledge in AI/ML domain.
Large experience working in the Automotive, Professional or Consumer Audio industry.
· Algorithm & SW development
He/she shall have very good experience in professional algorithm & SW development and must bring 12+ years hands on experience in Matlab or Python Programming.
In addition, a very good architectural background in designing effective SW solutions is required to be able to guide algorithm architects effectively.
Knowledge of C/C++ object-oriented programming of DSPs is a plus.
This lead shall also well understand methods to validate the development results against requirements (unit testing, code coverage; virtual testing).
Additionally Experience with the development & usage of audio SW applications is required.
· Leadership - This person should have a strong experience & background in leading & developing teams and Audio experts with a focus on innovation & technology.
She/he must bring very good people leadership experience.
A considerate, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards.
Excellent technical skills, analytical thinker with high creativity.
A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a strong leader and team player.
A very good educator who is fostering sharing of information and serves as a mentor.
· Feature Development – very experienced in driving and leading technology and project execution – technical capability to guide strategically and manage resources.
Experience with agile SW development
· Communication Skills - While this person is required to be very technically skilled, he/she must have the ability to promote and explain technology initiatives to business leaders outside of the technology organization and to external partners and customers.
