Research supports quality over volume for most professional job seekers. The optimal range for most professionals is 5–15 well-targeted, properly tailored applications per week. This is a high enough volume to generate a meaningful pipeline while remaining manageable enough to tailor each application properly. Candidates who apply to 50+ roles per week typically do so without tailoring — producing a very low hit rate despite high activity. Exception: entry-level and graduate markets are more volume-tolerant because the CV tailoring required is less significant and the competitive field is larger. In those markets, 15–25 applications per week with consistent tailoring is reasonable.
